The Journey
From the 619 to the PNW
Blythe to Yellowstone
A self-described 'misfit skater-kid' from Blythe, California, Ronnie dropped out of high school his senior year on the advice of his principal. He headed to Yellowstone, riding in VW buses, working with Deadheads, and absorbing hippie culture.
Mark the Marble
At a rock and gem show in Quartzsite, AZ, Ronnie watched a 3rd-generation flameworker named 'Mark the Marble' coloring glass with gold. Hearing about Mark's lifestyle traveling the country, Ronnie knew instantly he wanted to blow glass for the rest of his life. After taking a brief class, he was told he was a natural.
120-Degree Porch Sessions
Bought a starter kit from Sundance Art and a tutorial video by 'Mufasa'. Practiced daily in 120-degree heat on his porch, wasting a ton of glass but refusing to quit. That first year he made $7,000 selling pipes and had his first child, naming his business Ronsyd Glass.
El Cajon & Logan Heights
Moved to El Cajon, adopted his high school nickname 'Crondo', and blew glass in the dirt of a buddy's backyard with a popup tent and a pitbull. He eventually got a job at Puffin Stuff in Logan Heights, where he met Arty and was gifted the iconic 'Taboo Glass' VHS tape.
Trade Shows & Competitions
Attended his first Champs trade show in 2007, which blew his mind. Flew to the PNW to take a class with Jason Lee, mastering tube pulls and linework. Over the next decade, he competed in Boro Nights, captained Champs Flame-Off teams, worked production for Glassphemy, and won the 2016 boro derby with OG Badgerglass.
Crondo Glassics in the PNW
Now operating out of his home garage shop in Pullman, Washington. Crondo continues to create stunning, heady functional art, selling directly through Instagram and grassroots barter fairs across the Pacific Northwest.
